The passing of a friend

We are saddened at the loss of our dear friend, colleague and mentor Chris Russell. (Most of our Forever Dance family will have known Chris as our resident Judge at our competition nights). He passed quietly and painlessly in his sleep on Thursday, January 3rd, aged 80 after fighting esophageal cancer since 2005. Our thoughts and prayers are with his son, Ian and daughter, Julie. Daughter in law, Judith and grandchildren Mark and Kate. We will miss him deeply. The funeral service for Chris will be held in the Le Pine Chapel, 88 Carlisle Street, St Kilda on Wednesday (JAN 9) at 12 noon. No flowers by request.

Studio reopening in 2008

Forever Dance will be closed from Monday, 24th Dec at 6pm until Wednesday, 2nd January. Forever Salsa will recommence on Monday, 7th January and all other general groups will commence from Tuesday, 15th January. The Management team, teachers and office administration staff at Forever Dance would like to take this opportunity to thank all our students for a fantastic year. We are often complimented on the welcoming atmosphere at Forever Dance and that is due to all of you! Our Forever Dance student base is the best!!!!!! Good Luck to all our Summer Grand Finalists for tomorrow evening. Rehearsal looked great on Wednesday night and we are looking forward to a fantastic competition. Have a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and safe New Year - we will see you from the 2nd of January and at our first function for 2008 - Dance, Dance, Dance night on Friday, January 18th.

Special Portrait session at CGF
Make your Grand Final night extra special with a professional Dance Portrait. A portrait studio will be onsite throughout the evening ready for you to be photographed in full costume with your teacher, family, friends or solo before your heats or after your floorshows. Guest Group Class for Medal Night and Competition Night ticket holders

Family and friends who are coming to the Medal Night on the 3rd of March or who attend our regular Competition Nights are invited to participate in our special Guest Group Class. The class is designed to teach your guests a few steps from the most popular dances, so they may participate in the evening's social dancing segments. You are most welcome to accompany your guests in the Group Class which will be held on Thursday 1st March at 8pm. This Group Class is complimentary for Medal Night and Competition Night ticket holders and their family and friends. Practice Class starts again February 10th

Practice class will recommence on Saturday, February 10th. This class is open to all levels, although the basics in each dance should be understood. During the sessions, each dance will be played twice and the idea is to dance continuously to practice leading/following and floorcraft skills. Venue: Studio 2 Cost: $4 per session. Time: 2pm for Latin and 3pm for Ballroom A great way to spend Saturday afternoons. See you there!!

Studio operating dates over Christmas!

Forever Dance Studios will continue to be open for private tuition during the Christmas and New Year period. Our general Group Classes will finish on Thursday, December 7th and recommence on January 8th, 2007. Casa della Salsa will remain until Monday, December 18th and then recommence on January 8th, 2007. Practice class will resume on February 10th, 2007. The studio will be closed on Thursday, December 14th from 6pm for our staff Christmas Party. Forever Dance Management and staff would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very happy and fantastic festive season and thank you for your patronage during 2006. We have lots of new ventures planned for 2007 and look forward to an exciting year ahead.

Competition Grand Final Rehearsal

To all our wonderful Grand Finalists: Competition Grand Final rehearsal will be held on Wednesday, 13th December. Mens Ballroom: 7:00pm Mens Latin American: 7:30pm Ladies Ballroom: 8:00pm Ladies Latin American: 9:00pm This is a great "practice" run of the evening's events and all candidates are required to perform their dances in full costume. We have a number of items ranging from umbrellas and clothing, to scarves and dance shoes that have been left in our studio after lessons or dance nights. If you have misplaced an item this year, please check our lost property bin before the end of the year, as all items will be given to the Salvation Army in January 2007.

Forever Fun Report - Gardenias Restaurant

The photographs of the most recent Forever Fun are testament to the enjoyable night that was had by all who joined in. There was great food, good music and, of course, lots of fun! Our location this time was the stylish Gardenias Restaurant, Café and Tapas Bar, well situated in Carlton. The cuisine was modern Latin American with cocktails, beers and wines to match. On arrival, we were greeted by a relaxed and laidback mood with Argentine Tango music gracing the warm boutique style dining area. This gave some Forever Dancers a chance to warm up their legs whilst others warmed to the bar and settled into the business of getting to know everyone. As the music changed rhythm, so too did the mood. It was quite a sight as Forever Dance invaded the floor as Salsas, Merengues, Cha Cha Chas and Sambas took over. All in all, it was a fantastic evening with lots of dancing, laughs and new acquaintances made.

Forever Fun

The last Forever Fun event was held at the very ambient Illoura Bistro on St Kilda Road. Whilst the cuisine and the service could not be faulted, the main attraction of the evening was the Forever Fun members burning up the dance floor. The attendees danced to a live band, which catered for Ballroom, Latin and Street Latin. Many students enjoyed music which varied in mood and tempo - from mellow Foxtrots to sizzling Salsas and cheeky, traditional Cha Cha Chas! Forever Fun led by example with their quality social dancing skills, though the dance floor was shared with other Illoura Bistro patrons. For the uninitiated, Forever Fun is Forever Dance Studios Social Club. We have regular events throughout the year, which vary from dining and wining to adventure seeking activities and everything in between. The next event will be on Saturday, the 4th of November. We are currently looking at different venues and will keep you updated on the details.

However, we would encourage a comradery between students to make the network beneficial to all parties, some incentives to bring Forever Dance students to your business would be appreciated. Everyone likes doing business with someone they know and Forever Trade aims at providing our students with an awareness of the resources available right here. It doesn't have to be your own business, you can advertise your workplace with you as the contact. Australian Dancesport Championships - December 2006

Tattersall's Australian Dancesport Championships are being held at Vodaphone Arena on Sunday, December 10th. Forever Dance has secured some fantastic floorside seating (2 Boxes - 8 seats each and 2 tables - 10 seats each) to this great event. Boxes and tables have waiter service and the best views in the house. One Box has already been sold, with another on the way. Tickets are $165. Studio Teams for Competition Nights

It was recently announced that the competition teams - red, gold and green have disbanded. Going forward, students will represent the studios they learn in. At this point in time, Studio 1 has yet to reveal their new moniker...however, Studio 3 has dived in for the challenge with the aptly titled TEAM 3! Friday, September 22nd was a night of fun and fury as the students danced off for flag position in the inaugural studio challenge. Whilst both teams were strongly vocal in their support for their representatives in the Quickstep, Rumba and Barclay Blues / Charmaine, Studio 1 came out on top. Team 3 has promised to make it a short lived victory! The next competition, and the last one for this season, will be on Friday, the 10th of November. This will also be the last opportunity for students to collect points for the Summer Competition Grand Final on the 16th of December - an evening which is renowned for being a spectacle and celebration of our students and their dancing skills. DVD orders

DVDs of these productions will be available for purchase and all DVDs will need preordered and prepaid prior to each event. As a special introductory offer, the October Medal Night DVDs will be available for a discounted price of $38 per DVD. Professional filming of major events

We are pleased to announce that we have made arrangements to significantly improve the quality of our video recordings for our major events. We have contracted a professional production company to video the upcoming Medal Presentations in October and Competition Grand Final in December. Naturally, the overall production, including filming, editing and post production will be more professional than we have been able to produce to date.

Tickets are now on sale for the Dance, Dance, Dance night held on Friday September 15th in Studio 3. Come along at 8pm for 3 hours of non stop dancing. $15 entry or new students please use your complimentary pass. Dance nights are a great way to practice your floorcraft, leading and following skills.

Guest Group Class to be held on Thursday August 31

The Guest Group Class is designed to get your family and friends dancing when they come along to support you on Medal Night. The class is complimentary and runs for an hour. All Medal Night ticket holders are invited to attend this class, during which the basics of the most popular social dances will be taught. Ballroom dancing goes belly up!

Forever Dance launched its winter social club (Forever Fun) with a belly full of fun, food and belly dancing! The first Forever Fun event of the winter calendar will be one to remember as everyone traded the refined elegance of ballroom for gyrating, hip shaking belly dancing. We started off the evening with a tantalising Turkish banquet at Achelya Restaurant at the Docklands. The ambience here was a blend of the Arabic culture and contemporary Melbourne sophistication. The banquet was sumptuous and the conversations were entertaining to say the least... however, the real entertainment kicked-off with the in-house floorshow. A solo belly dancer performed awe-inspiring routines that left many wondering how a human body could move that way! As she rounded off her performance, she was joined by a second, equally talented (yet somewhat impromptu act). Kathleen Corless took to the floor and danced alongside the performer, letting her hips move in ways that could only be described as 'caterpillaric'. After the show ended, the band resumed and so did the social dancing. Forever Fun members invaded the floor and showed what their hips could do as they danced to authentic Arabic music, followed by a little rock 'n' roll. Our next wining, dining and dancing night will be on Saturday, September 30th at Illoura Bistro in St Kilda Road, Melbourne. They have a superb a la carte menu with live music and dancing. Once again, it should be a great night!!!!!
